Preventing Scams When Dating Someone Online

Monday, October 27th, 2008

When you’re dating online, you have unlimited potential of finding someone that will absolutely be perfect for you. You also have the potential of getting scammed by lying con-artists. When you’re dating online, there are many different things you can do to prevent scams and ensure that you don’t end up a victim. This article discusses how you can prevent scams when dating someone online.

Pictures

When you’re talking to someone that you are really starting to like, one of the things you can do is request more than one picture from her. Many scams take place when men or others purchase or steal a picture of a beautiful woman and use it for the profile of the ‘woman’ you’re speaking with. By asking for more than one picture, you can determine a little bit more about the woman you are talking to. If she provides more than one or even several which seem like normal pictures and not modeling shots, it’s a good sign! However, if she is unable to provide you with more than one picture – be cautious.

Send her Flowers

There are different services which allow you to send flowers throughout the world and they request a signature from the recipient. You can provide them with a picture to ensure that the woman you’re talking to receives the flowers. Some of these services will even take a shot of the woman receiving the flowers and will send it back to you. This is a great way to make sure you’re really speaking with who you think you are. Also, spending a bit of money for flowers is worth it to save you from getting scammed!

Tell Her You Want to Visit

By telling your woman you would like to visit her, you can determine whether she is legitimate or not. First of all, if she’s not real, she can’t exactly receive a visit from you. If she’s really into you and likes you a lot, she will welcome the opportunity to spend time with you and introduce you to her family. However, if she is only looking to get money or gifts from you, chances are she will make excuses so that you can’t visit. For instance, she won’t be able to get time from work or a family member is ill.

If you have any doubts at all about the woman you’re speaking to, it’s better to cut the correspondence off right away. Some men have talked to women for months and even years before finding out that they were only getting scammed the entire time. This is a heartbreaking situation that you never want to end up in! Use the tips and tricks above to be sure that you’re not the target of a scam.

Online Dating – Is It a Scam?

Monday, October 27th, 2008

The internet has changed dating in many different ways. These days, it’s possible to converse and become close with people in other countries and with all different cultures and backgrounds. You could find your soul mate a hundred miles away or thousands of miles away. However, with online dating come many different worries and questions such as whether it’s a scam or not.

The truth is that there are many different things to consider when you want to use the advantage of the internet to date. You should know that there ARE many different singles that are honest and trustworthy and who are truly looking for friendship and serious relationships. That said, no matter where you choose to date – online or off – there will be dishonest people. Because the internet creates a place where it is easy to be anonymous, there are many people who take advantage of it and try to scam people.

There are many people who pose as singles on internet dating sites and try to make individuals care for them so that they can take advantage of them. This is a very sad thing to think about but unfortunately, there are people willing to do anything to make a quick buck. This includes pretending to like you and have a connection with you simply to try and get money or gifts. Sad, but it happens. The good thing about this is that most online dating sites are great places to join.

Not only do they monitor their members, but they keep up to date on scam information. There are many different websites devoted to stopping these scammers by posting their pictures, letters in which they have tried to scam others and much more. There are many different things you can do to protect yourself from dating scams. For instance, when you begin talking with someone and really like them, search their name, e-mail address or user name. If they have scammed anyone else under that name, chances are you’ll find out by Googling them.

Another thing you can do is avoid anyone who asks you for money – no matter what the reason. Scammers are able to come up with sad, terrible stories to make you feel guilty and evil if you don’t help! While you’re running out to wire them a load of cash and help humanity, they are counting their money and laughing. As bad as this sounds, there are mostly honest and sincere people who are trying to find someone to share life with on dating sites. Don’t let the thought of a scam keep you from finding someone amazing! Use the tips and tricks to help steer clear from scams!
