Another reason that may come into play is this – 50 or 60 years ago, girls were raised to understand that once you were married, that was it. Marriage was for life, whether the marriage was good or bad. To be divorced was considered a disgrace.

Times have certainly changed in the past few decades. These days, getting a divorce is as commonplace as getting a manicure. While we don’t subscribe to those outdated beliefs that a woman who is divorced is tainted, we must admit that a lot more people are getting divorced these days. Women are no longer raised to believe that marriage is forever. The focus is placed on education and getting a better job instead.
