The Importance of Date Nights after Marriage
Before marriage, most couples are in the 'exciting,' dating stage of their relationship. Things are fun, new and fresh. After marriage, it is not uncommon for the routines of daily life, jobs and even children to bring down the excitement level and leave things a little dull. This article discusses the importance of date nights after marriage and how they help the happiness and health of the marriage.
Bring Back the Excitement
Date nights allow you to step out of the 'family' home and become an adult two people, a couple again as opposed to just a husband, a wife, a mom or a dad. This in itself is enough reason to have a date night each week. However, another thing it does is bring back the excitement you feel about your partner and vice versa. Dressing up, spending time together, laughing and having intimate time are all amazing ways to bring back the excitement and they can all be done with a date night.
Strengthen Bonds
Because most people have very busy lifestyles today, it is easy to neglect our partners. By having date nights after marriage, we are able to set aside a time that is just for our partners and strengthening our bonds with each other. Whether you stay up late and watch a great movie together, go out on the town and have a great time or anything the both of you love to do it's about getting that important time together. Even if you can only have a date night two weekends out of the month, as long as you make them good dates it's the quality of the time that counts! Try to do it as often as possible, though.
Reduce Stress
Getting out and having a good time with your spouse is a great way to relieve some of that built up stress that you develop during the week. It's a great way to relax and have some fun without having to worry about the little things you take care of every other day. Stress can play a major role in the demise of a relationship so taking the time to get rid of it regularly is a great idea.
Marriage is a conscious decision to enter into a partnership with someone you love and although that sounds a bit like buying a new car, the truth is that those bonds can fade. Without the proper love and nourishment, a marriage can wither like a house plant. However, if we are careful to nourish and feed the bonds in our marriage, it will thrive and flourish. A date night is just another way of giving our relationship the fuel it needs to grow stronger and healthier.
By having a date night, you're able to spend some much needed time with your partner and enjoy being an individual in love! Good luck.
