Online dating can be a great way to meet singles who are looking for friends, or long-term relationships. There are many advantages of utilizing online dating for your personal life, however, there can be many dangers as well. Protect yourself by reading the Do's and Don'ts below and learning how to be safe while you're meeting many great and interesting people.

Don'ts:

Don't give out your personal information to anyone – This can include where you live, your address, where you work, bank account numbers, credit card numbers, or your social security number. This is just a bad idea. You may think you are communicating with someone who is honest and trustworthy, but you could be chatting with thieves, con-artists, or hackers. These types of people lurk in areas where citizens are most vulnerable. They will wait for you to post your personal info, and snatch it up. You could lose your savings, your credit, and even your life.

Don't tell people where your house is located – Unless you know someone, and I mean really know them, never tell them where your house is. Although you may think you will be getting a visit from a sweetheart, you might get a visit from an unwanted guest.
